An early 20th-century English earthenware jardinière, impressed to the base “No 5 / Glasgow / Made in England.” This piece dates from the Edwardian period and was produced by a Staffordshire pottery, most likely as part of a domestic decorative range.

The piece features a warm two-tone glaze, shaded from soft cream to rich chestnut brown, and is embellished with an ornate raised scroll border around the rim. The body is decorated with a vivid transfer printed bouquet of poppies and foliage, delicately hand tinted and highlighted with gilt accents , a quintessential example of Edwardian floral design.

The “Glasgow” mark refers to the pattern name rather than the place of manufacture. Pieces of this type were typically made for home interiors or conservatories.

Condition: Displays beautifully with gentle age-related wear consistent with use. There is some surface rubbing and wear to the neck and rim area (visible in provided pictures) , but the decoration remains bright and well preserved.

Diameter : 9”
Depth : 7.5”
