This earthenware vase was produced by Crown Devon, the trade name of S. Fielding & Co., based in Stoke-on-Trent, England. The base carries the printed Crown Devon mark with a crown emblem, along with the British Registered Design Number 653216, which identifies the pattern as “Spring” and dates the design registration to the early 1910s.
The vase is finished in a soft blush ivory glaze and hand-painted with floral sprays in pastel tones, enhanced by fine gilt detailing. Its two handled form and flared neck reflect the decorative style of the period, bridging the late Edwardian and early Art Deco eras.
These features along with the markings place the vase within Crown Devon’s early 20th-century production, when the company was known for its carefully finished earthenware and attention to decorative detail. The “Spring” pattern illustrates the firm’s balanced approach to form and ornament, combining traditional floral design with the refined taste of its time.
