An extremely rare and collectible hand-painted majolica ewer from the famed Triana district of Seville, Spain, signed “Triana” beneath the spout. The flattened circular body is decorated with two distinct scenes: one side featuring a prancing horse, the other depicting a soldier in traditional dress. Both are framed within bold foliate borders in a vibrant palette of cobalt blue and other vivid colours . The neck and foot carry scrolling floral motifs, and the piece is mounted on a later wooden display base.
Condition: Very good overall, with one small , barely noticeable repair on the foot.
Dating is confirmed by stylistic and technical features characteristic of Triana workshops in the 19th century, including tin glazed surfaces and revivalist hand painted motifs, natural patina and the Triana mark.
A signed and scarce example of Andalusian faience, highly collectible and well worth acquiring for any serious collection of Spanish ceramics.
Height : 12”
